The Master of Professional Accounting (MPA) Alumni Association under the Department of Accounting at the University of Dhaka (DU) has formed a 21-member executive committee for the 2026–2027 and 2027–2028 terms.

The new committee was announced at the association’s first Annual General Meeting (AGM), held on Friday (October 30) at the Professor Dr Abdullah Faruk Multipurpose Hall on the ninth floor of the university’s MBA Building.

Mehedi Haider Chowdhury has been elected president, while HM Nuruzzaman Mia has been elected general secretary of the newly formed committee.

The other office-bearers are Md Zakir Hossain FCS and Mir Jahangir Alam Sarker as vice-presidents; Syed Al Hadi as joint secretary; Mohammad Mosleh Uddin Khandaker as treasurer; Anup Kumar Roy as organising secretary; Sabrina Islam Popy as project secretary; Abdul Ahad Pathan (FIPA, FFA) as membership development secretary; Md Monwar Hossain as welfare secretary; Pallab Kumar Mohalanobish as ICT secretary; Rony Halder as international affairs secretary; Md Al Amin as sports secretary; Amit Kumar Mallick as cultural secretary; and Mohammad Nazmul Hasan as office secretary.

The six executive members are Md Mofakkharul Islam Parvez, Md Foyez Ahmed, Mir Mohammad Mosaddeq Hossain, Sarjit Kumar Saha, MA Quddus and Mohammad Solaiman Uddin.

A three-member election commission was responsible for overseeing the formation of the association’s first executive committee. The commission was headed by MPA Coordinator Professor Dr Dhiman Kumar Chowdhury. Its other members were Department of Accounting Chairman Professor Md Maksudur Rahman Sarker (FCMA) and Professor Amiruz Salat.

Association leaders said the committee aims to bridge the gap between academic learning and corporate leadership, while promoting career development and professional networking among graduates working in the financial sector.

They said the association would organise mentorship programmes, professional workshops and various networking events in the coming days.

The newly formed committee has called on all MPA graduates to join the association, update their contact information and take part in its future activities.
